Oil stains are one of the biggest problems you can face when caring for your garage floor, as your vehicle can leak oil while parked, you can spill oil during routine self-maintenance on your vehicle or an oil can may even tip over. A few inexpensive items many people have on hand can pull out the oil from the garage floor and remove the stain. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Absorb as much of the oil as possible with either a handful of paper towels or newspaper. Blot fresh towels over the oil stain each time so you do not blot oil onto other areas of your garage floor.
-
2
Sprinkle a thick layer of kitty litter over the stain if you have it on hand, using about a 1-inch thick layer. Use baking soda if you do not have kitty litter on hand, and let sit for 30 minutes.

3
Sweep up the baking soda or kitty litter and discard.
-
4
Sprinkle a thin layer of baking soda and dish soap over any leftover stain, and scrub with a wet nylon brush. Do not use a metal brush as it will scratch concrete and cement floors.
-
5
Wipe the area with a handful of wet paper towels after cleaning and allow to air dry. Repeat the dish soap and baking soda procedure as needed if any stain remains.
