How to Install a Wireless Home Theater Sound System
Home theater systems can become frustrating with the number of wires involved, especially in small rooms or with complex systems. Fortunately, for those who hate clutter or want a simple set-up, it's simple to use wireless systems to reduce the number of wires. You can't get rid of wires entirely, but you can cut the clutter without sacrificing sound. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Choose the wireless speakers you would like to install. Select speakers that are the largest possible; the larger the speaker, the better the drivers. This will provide better sound fidelity. Choose a system that includes all the elements to install the equipment; it should include a wireless "bridge," which will connect receiver to speakers, the speakers themselves and an amplifier. Check user reviews on several websites before making any purchase.

Connect the bridge to your receiver. Each plug on the bridge will be matched to a specific plug on your receiver and will have a label. Often this will be a matter of plugging the cables formerly connected to your wired speakers to the bridge. Take your time and push firmly on each end of the cable to make sure the connection is firmly seated. Replace long cables with shorter RCA cables as necessary to reduce clutter behind your entertainment center.

Install the wireless speakers in the back of the room. Make sure the amplifier is turned all the way down and plug it in, using extension cords to reach a plug if necessary. Connect the speakers to the amplifier. Place the speakers on the adjustable pedestals and move them until the smallest circle in the speaker, the "tweeter", is at the level of your ears. Ideally, place your speakers so that your head and the two speakers form a triangle of equal length on all sides.

Turn the receiver and amplifier all the way down. Turn on the wireless bridge. Place a test disc into your CD or DVD player and begin playing. Turn up the volume on the receiver and amplifiers equally until you have an ideal volume. Pay close attention to the wireless speakers, listening for delays or noise. If you hear any problems, adjust the wireless bridge so it is more visible to the wireless receiver in the back of the room.
