How do I Change the Oil Light on a Dashboard of a 1992 Toyota Previa?
The dashboard lights are difficult to get to on a 1992 Toyota Previa. You must first take off dashboard covers and the plastic covering just to get to the bolts that hold the the dashboard cluster in place. Once you get these bolts out, the job is almost done. You can access any light on the instrument panel after you have pulled it from the dash and replace them with lights of any color you would like.

- Phillips screwdriver
- Metric socket set
- Instrument panel lamp
- Masking tape

Remove the lower dash cover. Look around the edges of the lower dash cover to find the screws that hold it on. Unscrew the screws with the Phillips screwdriver. Tape the screws to the cover and set it aside.

Remove the cover that surrounds the instrument cluster. Look for and remove all Phillips screws from the surrounding cover. .Remove the cover, tape the screws to it and set it aside.

Remove the plastic cover that covers the instrument cluster. Now that the covers are out of the way, you can see the Phillips screws that hold it place. Remove them and tape them to the plastic cover, and then set the cover aside.

Use a 10 mm socket to remove the four bolts that hold the instrument cluster in place. The bolts are around each corner of the cluster and have been hidden until the covers were taken off.

Pull the instrument cluster out. Do this carefully as it is attached to a metal wire that keeps it secured to the dash. Also, all the wires to the different dashboard components are still attached. Find the oil pressure light and remove by turning it a quarter turn counterclockwise.

Replace the old bulb with the new one and put the dash back together in the opposite order of taking it apart.

Tips & Warnings
Keep the screws of each component separate as they are different sizes. Taping them to the component is the best way to keep track of them. Masking tape will hold them in place, but will also come off easily when you want the screws.
Be very careful not to unplug or break any leads when the cluster is out so that you don't have to remove it again to fix them.
