How to Use Wireless Zero Configuration

Many computer manufacturers include a software utility with new computers for managing a built-in wireless network adapter. In many cases, this utility is set as the default wireless management tool instead of the Wireless Zero Configuration service included in the Windows XP operating system. If you prefer Wireless Zero Configuration or experience problems with your manufacturer's utility, it is possible to turn Wireless Zero Configuration back on and set it as the default wireless management service.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your computer's "Start" menu and click "Run."

    • 2

Type "services.msc" and click OK to open the "Services" menu.

    • 3

      Scroll to "Wireless Zero Configuration."

    • 4

Right-click "Wireless Zero Configuration" and select "Properties."

    • 5

Click "Start" to use Wireless Zero Configuration to manage your wireless networking.

    • 6

Change the "Startup type" drop-down box to "Automatic" to use Wireless Zero Configuration every time you start your computer.
