How to Make Cute Bags for Girls

Match the color of thread to the T-shirt for a more polished look.

Put your creativity to work and make a cute bag for a daughter or niece out of your old T-shirt. Create the bag yourself and then present it as a gift. Or use this project as a fun way to spend time with your daughter or niece on a weekend or holiday. The bag can be used for carrying arts and crafts, groceries, or toys.

Things You'll Need

• T-shirt
• Needle
• Thread
• Scissors

Instructions

1. Select the T-shirt you want to use. Consider your daughter or niece's favorite color or use one with a fun print.

2. Lay the shirt on a flat surface.

3. Cut off the sleeves.

4. Cut a large C shape out of the top of the T-shirt. This action will remove the original neck and create a scooped neckline. At this point, you want the shirt to resemble a tank top with thick straps.

5. Turn the T-shirt inside out.

6. Use a needle and thread to sew the bottom part of the t-shirt closed. This will create the bottom of your bag so take care to make small enough stitches that items will not fall through the bottom of the bag.

7. Turn the shirt right side out. Your old T-shirt has been transformed into a fun bag.

Tips & Warnings

• Add additional decoration by adding an iron-on patch, or by gluing on crystals or ribbons. Or allow your niece or daughter to decorate the bag using puffy paint.

• You can also use a sewing machine to complete bag.

• If you want to make a large bag, use a large T-shirt. If you want to make a small bag, use a small T-shirt.
