How to Access a Home Computer Behind a Linksys Router
Home network routers are designed to act as proxy servers. Any incoming connection to your network from the Internet is directed to the router and no further, providing a secure firewall. This, however, blocks you from accessing your computers via the Internet when you are not at home. If you want to access your home computer when away from home, you will need to use some software which bypasses your router. There are multiple websites and software programs designed specifically for remote access, such as LogMeIn, Yuuguu, CrossLoop, ShowMyPC and others.

Tips & Warnings
Not all remote access is done via a website. GoToMyPC, for example, requires a software download. The software can be used on both computers to establish a remote connection.
