Instructions

    • 1

Turn the computer off and turn the unit so you can see the back where the power light is located. Press the "Power" button on the front of the computer and watch to see if the light illuminates or not.

    • 2

Unplug everything including the power cord from the computer. Hold down the "Power" button and plug the power cord into the computer, then release the "Power" button.

    • 3

Switch the computer's power cord with the monitor's power cord if the computer still does not turn on. Unplug the power cord if the computer does not turn on, and flip the red switch underneath the power plug in the back of the computer to one side. Wait five seconds, then flip the switch back to its original position.

    • 4

Plug a lamp in the electrical outlet to see if it is working properly. Plug the computer's power cord directly into the outlet instead of using a surge protector or backup battery source. Clean out the vent in the rear of the computer with a vacuum.

    • 5

Unplug the power cord from the computer, unscrew the screws holding the side panel onto the computer and remove the side panel if the power light originally turned on. Check the wires leading from the "Power" button to the motherboard inside the computer to see if the connections have come loose. If so, plug the connection back into the plug at either end.

Replace the side panel and the retaining screws. If the computer still will not turn on, take it to a repair shop for further diagnosis.
