Baby Lock is a leading manufacturer of sewing machines, sergers and embroidery machines. Both sewers and craft enthusiasts enjoy Baby Lock’s machines and accessories. Baby Lock only sells its products through independent dealers throughout the United States. These dealers may include mom and pop stores, specialty stores, boutiques and traveling salespeople. Those interested in selling these products need to become an authorized dealer. This involves contacting the Baby Lock company and obtaining a dealer agreement.

Visit the Baby Lock website (See References) or contact them at 800-298-8810.

Speak to the corporate office of the Baby Lock company. Introduce yourself and tell them that you would like information on becoming an authorized dealer. Offer a time and place to speak more about the opportunity.

Bring your resume and business plan. Your resume should include your education and history that is relative to the job. Your business plan should show your finance plan, location and marketing strategy.

Receive information about being an authorized dealer. Discuss contracts, compensation and any additional information. The regional sales manager will go over your business plan and resume to see if you have any experience with sales.

Wait for your approval. The regional sales manager may approve you right away or within a week’s time. Read over the dealer agreement carefully before signing it.

Train with your assigned regional sales manager. Training teaches you about sales techniques, the Baby Lock brand and dealer programs.

Tip

Find out if your state requires you to have a business license to sell.

Make sure you have enough financial assets to run a business.
