How to Enter TV Codes in a Sony Universal Remote

The amount of devices that can be controlled by a Sony universal remote vary based upon the exact model of the remote that you own. All Sony universal remotes can be programmed to use with a television set. This allows you to use these remotes as replacements for broken or misplaced TV remotes, and also gives you the option of reducing the number of remotes that you use to control the entertainment devices in your home.

Instructions

1. Turn on the TV.

2. Hold down the "Set" key on the Sony remote for about five seconds. Press the "Menu" key. The "Set" button lights up. Release both buttons.

3. Press the "TV" button that is at the top of the remote.

4. Enter the four-digit TV code for the brand of television set you'll be using with the Sony remote. Type in the code using the Sony remote's number pad.

5. Press the "Ent" key on the remote to save the code. Test the Sony remote by pressing several buttons at a time. Start over at Step 2 if the remote doesn't control the TV.
