Approach the wake from the outside with lots of speed. Jump up as you hit the wake, and land with your skis parallel and knees bent.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Grip the ski rope in the baseball-bat grip, with one hand over and one hand under, separated by a couple of inches.

  2. Step 2

    Ski outside the wake.

  3. Step 3

Lean into a hard turn toward the wake.

  4. Step 4

Crouch low just before you hit the wake.

  5. Step 5

Straighten your legs and jump up as you cross the wake.

  6. Step 6

Keep your skis parallel in the air. Keep your tips up so that they don't dig in when you land.

  7. Step 7

Bend your knees and waist as you land. Your skis should be about a foot apart and parallel.

Tips & Warnings
  • For a better-looking jump, try to adopt a style in the air, such a stiff, leaning-back style or a crouched, knees-bent style. Hold this position while you are in the air.
  • It's possible to jump the wake from the inside, but generally, the outside of the wake forms a better jumping angle.
  • As you get the hang of jumping, try to jump higher and farther. Your goal should be to jump from one wake clear over the other.
  • Drop the rope if you are falling.
  • Waterskiing is an inherently dangerous activity that can result in serious injury or death. We recommend that you seek proper training and equipment before attempting this activity.

on 4/7/2009 DON'T use baseball grip, DON'T crouch or stiffen out. We need to stress newschool style here. Check out the new wake skis coming out we need to push this product so it stays around. Instead, hold the handle with both hands over top. if you want to make your airs look good, start with a grab. I suggest seatbelt or japan to start. These skis are so great. Go rent a pair, help us get this new sport off the ground.**I don't work for any company, don't worry. I'm just a snow skier that is super stoked that this sport is a possibility.

on 8/13/2006 Go about 25 to 26 mph, cut out and hit the wake with flat skis. And try not to use combo skis, it is a good idea to buy old jumper skis and cut them off to 60 inches.

on 11/22/2005 Make sure that you are going at a comfortable speed and that the wake is big enough.
