Weight training is vital to increasing strength and stamina.

Lack of strength and stamina can cause fatigue, weight gain and decreased overall health. Whether you want stronger bones, leaner muscles, better health or endurance, you need to challenge yourself to increase your strength and stamina. Anyone from a professional athlete to a beginner can learn to increase their strength and stamina by implementing a challenging workout into their daily lives. You will end up with more energy and focus throughout your day when your stamina and strength is raised.

Add a walk, bike ride or swim to your daily routine. Getting out of the routine of being out of shape can be hard, so increase your strength and stamina gradually. As you get more comfortable with your newly added activity of choice, move up to something more difficult.

Use a treadmill at the gym. Running builds stamina as well as assists with increasing lung function and cardiovascular health. Start out doing 30 minutes of cardiovascular training on the treadmill each day. When your workout becomes easier to tolerate, up the incline, speed or time you run by increments of 10 minutes. Challenging your body is important when increasing strength and stamina. Try other cardiovascular workout machines such as a rowing machine, swimming or a bicycle when you get bored or reach a plateau.

Add weight training to your workout routine to build muscle and help you lose fat, both of which will help your strength and stamina increase. Start out by doing five repetitions of 20 push-ups, 20 sit-ups, 20 crunches, 30 squats and increase these reps by 10 each when your strength and stamina improves.

Add free weights or barbells when you achieve no further improvement from these exercises, and increase the weight you lift as your strength and stamina increase.

Tips & Warnings

  • Rotate your daily strength and cardiovascular training exercises to prevent becoming bored.

  • Always consult your doctor before starting a diet or exercise plan.
