Installation Instructions for Ikea Expedit Wall Mount TVs

Ikea is known for its affordable modern furniture. The Expedit line of Ikea furniture actually refers to a large collection of shelves and shelving units in a particular thick and blocky style. They come in a variety of sizes and colors to be mixed and matched. Instructions often come with the purchase and can even be downloaded from the website. However, as they are made multilingual by having no words in them, they can be quite confusing.

Things You'll Need

  • Philips screwdriver
  • Flathead screwdriver
  • Flathead screws
  • Pencil
  • Ikea Expedit wall mount set
  • Level
  • Sort out all of the pieces that come with the set and put them into groups. This organization will help you identify your pieces as you go along.

  • Insert the 16 wooden pegs into the shelves. They will stick out of the shelves.

  • Place each shelf into the side wall of the unit via the wooden pegs. These walls will have many holes in them for the wooden pegs. Do this for both side walls.

  • Grab the two remaining walls that do not have large amounts of holes in them. Align them against the side walls so that the holes in each corner match up.

  • Screw in the long and slender screws that require the Ikea allen key, which comes with the set. Put the screw from the top and bottom wall into the side wall.

  • Cover up the metal screws using the tiny plastic fittings.

  • Screw the movable metal door into the unit. You are going to want to screw these in the top two corners on each side to hold it in the wall.

  • Hold the unit against the wall where you are going to place it. Swing the tiny metal door and make a mark with the pencil where it touches the wall.

  • Screw the Flathead screw into the wall where you have marked. Do not screw it in all the way.

  • Place the unit on the screws with the aid of the metal doors.

  • Grab the metal pieces that have the light bulb opening on them. Set them over the screws that are holding the unit to the wall.

  • Check the level to see if the unit is aligned with the wall and balanced.

  • Screw the Flathead screws into the light bulb pieces of metal until they are nice and tight.

Tips & Warnings

  • Have someone assist you with holding the unit against the wall.
