Finding out your favorite DVD has been scratched or broken is always upsetting. While copyright laws prevent you from copying and distributing DVDs for profit, many people back them up to their computer for personal use. DVD Decrypter, DVD Fab HD Decrypter and DVD 43 are all freeware that make ripping encrypted DVDs easy, allowing you to always have a backup of that favorite movie or video.

Instructions

  1. DVD Decrypter

    • 1

      Download DVD Decrypter at the download site listed in the Resources section. When the download is complete, install DVD Decrypter on your computer.

      Open DVD Decrypter. While waiting for the program to open, place the encrypted DVD you want to rip into the CD/DVD drive of your computer.

      Click on the "Mode" menu in the upper left-hand corner of DVD Decrypter. Double-click on "File" from the drop-down menu. DVD Decrypter will automatically begin analyzing the DVD and place its contents in the source box.

      Click the file folder under the "Destination" section. This will generate a pop-up window. Select the file where you you want to store the ripped DVD.

      Click the DVD icon in the bottom left-hand section of DVD Decrypter. This will begin the decrypting process and rip the DVD contents. Once decryption is complete, the CD/DVD drive will eject your DVD and a copy will be saved on your computer.

    DVD Fab HD Decrypter

      Download DVD Fab using the link in the Resources section. Once the download is complete, install the software on your computer.

      Open DVD Fab. While waiting for the program to open, place the encrypted DVD you want to rip into the CD/DVD drive of your computer.

      Click on "HD Decrypter" in the "Welcome to DVD Fab" menu. Click on the "Start DVD Fab" button in the bottom right-hand corner. This will open the HD Decrypter page.

      Select your CD/DVD-Rom drive in the "Source" menu. This will be the drive where you have loaded the encrypted DVD. In the "Target" menu, select your hard drive from the menu in order to rip files to your computer.

      Click the "Start" button on the bottom right-hand corner. This will begin your decrypting session. DVD Fab will give you a pop up message when decryption is complete.

    DVD43

    • 11

      Download DVD43 software to your computer from the site listed in the Resources section. When the download is complete, install the program on your computer.

      Open DVD43 from the yellow smiley face located in your icon bar.

    • 13

      Load the encrypted DVD into your CD/DVD Rom drive. DVD43 will begin decrypting your DVD. The smiley face located in the icon bar will turn green when decryption is complete.

Tips & Warnings

  • It is illegal to use this software to rip copyrighted DVDs and distribute them.
