How to Update the Navigation System on a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee is a sports utility vehicle suited for off-road travel and rugged terrain. Some Grand Cherokee vehicles come with, or may be equipped with, a GPS navigation system. The navigation system provides turn-by-turn directions to most destinations in North America. Occasionally an update is released for the system's maps that reflects changes in city streets and highways. The update may be accessed and purchased from the Jeep website.

Instructions

1. Go to Jeep.com and click on "For Owners." Click "Buy Now" in the NAVTEQ box on the right side of the page.

2. Choose "Grand Cherokee" and "2005." The current map update is displayed, which is priced at $199 as of September 2010. Click "Add to Cart," then "Checkout." The updated DVD will be mailed to your address.

3. Start the engine of the Grand Cherokee, and power on the navigation system. Remove the old map DVD from the system. Insert the new DVD. The system is automatically updated with the current map information.
