Crouch low on your water skis and lean into a turn to cross quickly over the raised track left behind by the ski boat.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Crouch low on your water skis.

  2. Step 2

Lean into a hard turn. Lean in the direction of the wake you want to cross. This should cause your skis to point slightly in that direction.

  3. Step 3

Brace yourself for a moment of rough water.

  4. Step 4

Cross the wake quickly, absorbing the bump with your knees bent.

  5. Step 5

Continue skiing out away from the wake, keeping your center of gravity low by crouching down.

  6. Step 6

Lean in the opposite direction, and cross back over the wake in the same manner as you went out.

Tips & Warnings
  • The more you bend your knees and the harder you turn, the easier crossing the wake will be.
  • Practice skiing out on one side, back through the center and then out to the other side. Repeat, and you are beginning to practice slalom turns.
  • Do not ski on top of the wake.
