If the Teflon coating is coming off your George Foreman Grill, don't continue to use it. Teflon can be hazardous when ingested, so it is best to re-treat the area with Teflon non-stick replacement spray or create an alternative grilling surface using aluminum foil.   1. Recoating the Surface

    • 1

      Find a non-stick coating replacement spray safe for use on kitchen appliances. Contact the George Foreman Grill support center at 800-738-0245 for its recommendations on purchasing a spray best suited for their product. Be sure to have your model number, which is provided on the Use & Care manual.

      Wash the George Foreman Grill plates with a sponge to remove any loose Teflon, then dry the plates completely.

      Spray the non-stick coating replacement spray on the areas of the grill plate that are peeling off. Apply one, even coat to the surface area. Follow the manufacturer's directions for length of time to leave the spray on the grill plate and how to dry and rinse.

      Contact the George Foreman Grill support center for repair options if your surface plates are not repaired to satisfaction after treatment--or create a cooking plate surface alternative using aluminum foil.

    Creating a Temporary Cover for Grill Plates

      Wash and dry the George Foreman Grill plates as indicated above.

      Spray the grill with a coating of nonstick spray.

      Cover the top and bottom plates with a layer of aluminum foil. Fit the foil tightly around the plates.

      Spray the foil with nonstick spray.

      Turn on the grill and use as you normally would.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't discard foil after the first use. Instead, remove it and rinse with warm water. Let the foil air dry and it can be reused up to 5 times. Recycle the foil when you are done with it.

  • Use only plastic utensils when cooking with Teflon-coated grills.
