Visit either Donateforcharity.com or Donateacarusa.com and click on the list of charities. Select the charity to which you would like to donate. For local donations, there are several organizations you can select.

Click on the donation form or call the organization's 800 number. You must provide the car's odometer reading, year, make, model and condition when completing the donation form. Make sure you specify which organization you want your donation to benefit.

Schedule a pickup for your donation. A local towing company will contact you within 24 hours of completing the donation questionnaire. Your vehicle will be picked up free of charge. The towing company will provide you with a receipt.

Keep the receipt on file to receive your tax deduction. The highest deduction you can claim is $500, unless your donation sells for more then $500. If so, you will receive an IRS Form 1098-C indicating the actual sale amount.
