The Stop 0x50 error message on Windows XP is a common error message that usually indicates a bad reference in the system's memory. This can happen with outdated device drivers, incompatible software and problems with newly installed hardware. This problem can usually throw your computer to a blue screen with a detailed description of the problem. Whatever caused it, the Error 50 is a very frustrating problem.

Instructions

  1. Update device drivers

      Click "Start "and "Run".

      Type "devmgmt.msc" (without quotes) in the "Open" field and click "Open". This opens the "Device Manager" window.

      Look in the list for drivers with an exclamation mark, which indicates the driver is not properly installed or needs to be updated.

      Right-click on the bad driver.

      Click "Update Driver" to open the Hardware Update Wizard. Follow the instructions to update your driver.

    Uninstall incompatible software

    Windows Update
