How to Get Real Music on a MetroPCS Phone

Connect your MetroPCS cell phone to a computer through its USB adapter.

While you may be used to downloading ringtones onto your cell phone, media playback-capable devices allow you to enjoy real music from the handset. Storing music on your phone affords you the luxury of enjoying your favorite songs without having to carry along a separate media player. Because MetroPCS does not require its phones to use a standard media management utility like some other providers do, you can add music from your personal collection onto your device as if it were any other connected USB storage hardware.

Instructions

1. Insert a memory card into your Metro PCS cell phone's appropriate slot.

2. Activate your phone's USB Mass Storage function from the Settings menu if necessary.

3. Connect the phone to your computer using its USB adapter.

4. Open the phone's device icon to reveal its root directory.

5. Open the folder containing the music you wish to transfer onto your phone in a new file manager window.

6. Drag and drop the music files or folders into the phone's "My Music" subdirectory.

Tips & Warnings

• Safely remove the MetroPCS phone from your computer. Right-click the device icon and select "Safely Remove Device/Hardware" from the drop-down menu. You may then disconnect the USB adapter from both your phone and computer.
