Instructions

  1. Creating and Printing Labels in Windows

    • 1

Open Microsoft Word and go to the "File" menu button. Under "File", select "New" and "Labels". You should see various templates of pre-designed labels. Select the one you want, then click "OK".

    • 2

Type the information you want in the label templates. If the text you just created is going to be the same in all labels, select that text, right-click on it and select "Copy." Go into each label and place the cursor in the spot you want to paste the copied text. Right-click your mouse and select "Paste." Do this for all of the labels.

    • 3

Change the size of your labels if you need to. Go to the "Table Tools" tab at the top of Word menu and select "Layout." From there, you can change the width and height of all labels by changing the row and column sizes.

    • 4

Create address labels that don't have any designed templates by going to the "Mailings" tab on the Word menu and selecting the "Labels" option. In "Labels", type the address you want to appear on all of the labels in the "Address" box. Click the "Label Options" button in "Labels" and chose the "30 per Page Address Label" paper size. Click "OK"

    • 5

Prepare a test print of your labels. Take a blank piece of paper and make a mark at top. Place the paper in your printer, taking note of where the mark is so you can figure out how your printer prints.

    • 6

Go to "File" in Word and select "Print." When the page has printed, make sure the labels are the right size, and that they align with the blank labels you'll be printing onto.

    • 7

Put the blank labels into your printer. To determine which way to load the blank labels, use the mark on the test page you just printed to figure out the direction to load the labels. Go back to "File" and "Print" to print your labels.
