How to Build a Jewelry Armoire
A carpentry novice can build an elegant and sturdy jewelry armoire from two wooden fruit crates. The crates are available in grocery stores and often hold seasonal fruits like tangerines. This roomy jewelry armoire will provide an organized home for necklaces, bracelets and earrings, and will be an attractive addition to the bedroom, bath or built-in closet. Things You'll Need
- 2 wooden fruit crates
- Black spray paint
- Hot glue gun
- Scissors
- 1-yard black plastic screening
- Staple gun
- 16 silver stick-on hooks
- Tape measure
- 1-yard gray ultra suede fabric
- 1-yard decorative ribbon
- 2 picture hangers
- Hammer

Remove all paper labels from the fruit crates. Paint each crate, inside and outside, with the black spray paint.

Attach the crates to each other on the long sides with the hot glue gun.

Cut a piece of black plastic screening to fit the back of both crates with the scissors. Staple the screening to the back of the crates with the staple gun.

Attach 14 stick-on hooks around the upper inside walls of both crates.

Measure the width and length of one crate. Cut out two pieces of ultra suede to the measurement with the scissors.

Attach each piece of ultra suede to the top front edge of each crate with the hot glue gun. Add a piece of decorative ribbon to the top edge with the hot glue gun.

Attach two stick-on hooks to the right and left crate edges, halfway down, facing outward. Pull the ultra suede curtains to the hooks.

Hang necklaces and bracelets from the interior armoire hooks. Slide hook drop-style earrings in the screening holes between the crate slats.
