How to Upgrade a Toshiba Laptop Hard Drive

      Power off your Toshiba laptop and flip the computer over. Locate the hard drive compartment on the bottom side of the computer. Remove the screw fastening the compartment to the laptop frame using a Phillips-head screwdriver. Slide off the hard drive compartment door and set it aside. Place the screw in a safe place to avoid losing it as you will need it to reassemble the computer.

      Slide the old hard drive out of the computer and remove the four screws that lock the hard drive in the aluminum bay. Pull the aluminum drive bay out of the computer and set the old drive off to the side. Insert the new drive into the aluminum bay and connect it to the bay using the same four screws. Slide the aluminum bay into the computer.

      Slide the hard drive compartment door back into place and fasten the securing screw. Power up the Toshiba laptop to ensure that it boots and that the new hard drive is functioning properly.
