Purchase a RAM upgrade that is compatible with your laptop. Newegg, TigerDirect and Fry's Electronics all have online stores that allow you to purchase RAM upgrades and find information about the parts that are right for your particular system.

Remove the screws that hold the compartment cover that conceals the RAM socket in place and remove the compartment cover from the laptop. See your computer's service manual for system-specific disassembly instructions.

Touch a bare metal surface to discharge any static before touching the components of the laptop.
