How do I Troubleshoot Mitsubishi Generators?

Save

Mitsubishi has been in business for over 100 years and holds itself to the toughest industry standards. Its generators are built to last, using high quality materials, and including standard features such as automatic voltage regulators and low-oil sensors. Generators are available in a variety of sizes and output capacities, to meet different needs -- you can use them for simple camping or to run your entire household. If you have trouble starting the generator, there a few things you can do to fix the problem yourself.

  • Turn off the power or disconnect any appliance the generator is connected to before attempting to start it. Attached appliances can prevent the generator from starting.

  • Set the choke lever to the "Close" position. The generator will not start if this is set incorrectly.

  • Fill with fuel and oil and open the fuel shut-off valve. The generator needs fuel and oil to start and operate.

  • Push the spark plug and cap securely into place. If the spark plug isn't making a direct contact, the generator can't start.

  • Clean spark plug electrodes. Debris can interfere with the spark plug contact and prevent the generator from starting.

  • Clean the fuel pipe and fuel strainer. Debris in the fuel lines can block the flow of fuel to the generator and prevent it from starting.
