How to Prepare Ginger Root Tea
The ginger root, native to Asia, can make a healthy and fresh tea. Ginger root tea may help soothe sore throats, relieve indigestion and ease nausea. Ginger root has a fibrous texture that cooks use in a variety of recipes. You can purchase ginger root at most health and grocery stores or grow it at home. Things You'll Need
- Ginger root
- Sharp knife
- Saucepan with lid
- 4 cups water
- Bowl
- Colander
- Teacup or coffee mug
- Lemon slice or honey

Peel a 2-inch piece of ginger root to remove the outer skin. Cut the ginger root into thin slices no larger than 1/4 inch.

Fill a saucepan with 4 cups of water. Place the saucepan of water on the stovetop over high heat.

Bring the water to a boil. Add the fresh ginger root to the water, and cover the saucepan with a lid.

Reduce the heat to low to simmer the water and ginger root for 20 minutes.

Place a bowl under a colander. Pour the tea through a colander to remove the ginger root.

Pour the tea into a teacup or coffee mug. Add a lemon slice or honey to add flavor to the ginger root tea.
