How to Setup a Router's DSL Modem

Most modems will have up to four Ethernet ports to allow a variety of connections.

Although your modem may work via an Ethernet cord attached to your computer, you may want the freedom to use a wireless connection on some or all of your computers. You will need a router to accomplish a good wireless connection. A router is a device that installs between your modem and your computer, allowing the router to convert all incoming and outgoing signals to wireless broadcast.
