How to Setup a VoIP System
VoIP or Voice Over Internet Protocal is a type of telephone service that transmits your telephone calls over the Internet instead of via traditional phone lines. Connect your phone to a router with phone adapter capabilities to setup a VoIP system. The system can be setup in just a few steps.
Things You'll Need
- Router with phone adapter
- Telephone
- Standard phone cable
- Ethernet cable

Locate the input panel on the rear of your cable or DSL modem. Insert one end of the ethernet chord into the ethernet jack on the rear of the modem.

Insert the other end of ethernet cable into the "Internet" jack on the side of the router.

Plug one end of the phone line into the "Phone" port on the rear of the router. Connect the other end of the line into the jack on your telephone.

Turn on the modem and the router. Your VoIP system is now set up and you are ready to make calls.
