Update ATI catalyst graohics card drivers.

ATI catalyst based graphic cards use the ATI driver software to manage video drivers on your PC. If you are trying to update the drivers yourself using the Windows Update utility or are manually updating your drivers in the Device Manager utility, you will run into problems during the update. Windows will search for the drivers it believes are best, but it does not use the most up to date drivers that are provided on the ATI website. Be sure to download the right drivers and use the ATI Catalyst Control Center to correctly update your video drivers and software.

Instructions

    • 1

Discover your video card model if you do not already know the exact model. Click "Start" then type "Device Manager" in the search box and press "Enter."

    • 2

Expand the "Display Adapters" option and write down the card listed. This is your video card model name and series number.

    • 3

Go to the ATI Download website and search for the latest drivers using the online drop-down menus. There are four menus: system type, product family, product and operating system. All of these details must be correctly entered to find the right drivers that coincide with your current operating system. Click "Display Results" once you confirm your ATI card.

    • 4

Click on the latest software update file as listed in the download page, and save the file to your hard drive. Do not run the program yet.

    • 5

Click "Start," then "Control Panel," then click "Programs and Features." Double-click the ATI Catalyst Manager option from the program list to open the Wizard.

    • 6

Click "Next" at the wizard, then select the "Express" uninstall option and click "Next" to continue. Let the program remove the old drivers before exiting.

    • 7

Double-click on the downloaded software from step 4 to start a new driver install. Click the "Install" button to start the auto-installing software.

    • 8

Choose your language from the option list and click "Next," then click "Install."

    • 9

Highlight the "Express" option and then click "Accept" to accept the User License Agreement. The software will install new drivers for your PC. Once complete, click "Finish."
