How to Find Ring Size at Home
An ill-fitting ring is not only uncomfortable, it may be so big that it could easily fall off and be lost. On the flip side, the ring may be so small that it won't slide on at all. Though most jewelers will re-size rings, getting the right size to begin with eliminates the hassle of having to wait for the work to be completed. For the best results, make sure you measure your ring size when your hands are warm, not when they are cold, suggests Zales. Multiple methods exist for finding your ring size. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
-
Paper Test
-
1
Print a ring sizing device online. When you print, be sure that the printer is set to print at 100 percent, rather than printing to fit the information on one page, which can change the size of objects.
-
2
Cut out the sizing device from the piece of paper and carefully cut the slit in the device where indicated. Slide the pointed end through the slit to complete the process.
-
-
3
Slide the sizing device around the finger you will wear the ring on and tighten it until you have a comfortable fit. Do not tighten it too much. The number showing at the slit is your ring size. Zales recommends that you have someone else help you to get the most accurate measurement and that you double check your measurement.
String Test
-
4
Wrap a string snugly around your finger.
-
5
Measure the length of the string using a ruler.
-
6
Compare the length of the string to a ring sizing chart to find your ring size. For example, if the string measures 51.8 millimeters, you would get a size 6 ring.
