Start your team's work with an organized plan.

You shouldn't have to pull teeth to get teams to work together to complete a common goal. With a bit of organization and pre-planning, your groups will be able to work together when creating PowerPoint (PPT) presentations that can be used to drive home sales, marketing or operational points or even in projects as simple as showcasing plans on how to solve a problem.

Start by deciding if the teams will have creative control over the design of the presentation. Choose whether or not they must stick with one specific theme or must base their design on a topic predetermined for them. Break groups up into individual teams and issue the rules and stipulations of the presentations to the entire group. Include instructions on limitations of photos, colors and content. Instruct the team on their time allotment to complete their tasks. Allow teams a moment to introduce themselves to each other and perhaps brainstorm on a starting point. Ask each team to assign a conceptual designer, the graphic designer and a note taker to collect everyone's thoughts and ideas.

Allow each group to break apart and work independently as instructed by the team leader on what their individual responsibilities are. Include details on research, data collection as well as ways to make their presentation unique to the other groups. As tasks are complete, funnel ideas over to the conceptual designer for editing and piecing elements together in preparation for instructions to the graphic designer who will ultimately design the actual presentation on the computer.

Organize the placement of the slides and prepare to finalize the presentation so that the entire group is ready to view the finished product. Allow the entire team to make brief comments on suggestions for changes and additions and edit as necessary.

    • 4

Use the final document to share with the group to divvy up the talking points in preparation to present to the entire working group. Time permitting, allow your team to run through the presentation to be sure that all supporting documents and points are addressed prior to presenting in front of the group.
