How to Unlock Network Lock for a Sony Ericsson K800

The network lock on a mobile phone prevents it from recognizing other company's mobile networks. If you are using a phone that requires a SIM card, such as the Sony Ericsson K800, you can switch SIM cards in the phone to switch carriers when that network lock is disabled. To disable the network lock, you need the SIM unlock code that corresponds with your particular phone. Your mobile service provider often will supply the unlock code upon request.

Instructions

    • 1

Dial "*#06#" on your Sony Ericsson K800 to display the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number. Contact your mobile service provider to ask for the SIM unlock code for your phone. Give them the IMEI number to help them identify the correct code and an email address to send the code when they locate it.

    • 2

Slide the battery cover off the bottom half of the K800 when you receive your SIM unlock code, which can take up to two weeks depending on the carrier. Lift the battery out of its compartment.

    • 3

Replace the current SIM card with one from another company. Put the battery back in and slide on the battery panel. Turn on the K800.

    • 4

Wait for the SIM card error message to appear. Press the "OK" button. Enter the SIM unlock code when prompted. Press the "OK" button again.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also find the IMEI number on the sticker in the bottom of the K800's battery compartment.

  • Although most mobile carriers offer a free SIM unlock code to their customers, you must meet their eligibility requirements. Contact your mobile provider for specific information about their free SIM unlock code provisions. Most unlock codes are available online for a fee.
