How to Disable Onboard Video on a Gateway GM4019E PC thumbnail
Aftermarket video cards often allow you to connect multiple monitors to your computer.

If you use your Gateway GM4019E Media Center computer to edit videos or play video games, you may wish to install an aftermarket video card that can handle faster rendering of graphics. Once the new video card is installed, you should disable the on-board video, which is the video card physically attached to your motherboard. Allowing the on-board video card to remain enabled could cause problems down the line with your video output, as the card may consume resources, causing the computer's video output to lag.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the "Start" menu, then right-click "My Computer."

    • 2

Select "Properties" from the Computer right-click contextual menu.

    • 3

Click "Device Manager," which is located in the "Hardware" tab of the "System" window.

    • 4

Double-click "Display Adapters" from within the Device Manager window.

    • 5

Double-click the on-board video card, then place a check-mark beside "Disable." Click "Apply" to save your changes, then click "OK" to close the window.
