How to Fry Shrimp For Homemade Stir Fry
A popular shellfish, shrimp can be prepared in a wide variety of ways. One delicious way to enjoy shrimp is to fry it for homemade stir fry. Knowing how to coat and fry your shrimp properly gives you a delicious addition to your Asian-inspired meals. Frying shrimp doesn't take very long, giving you more time to enjoy your meal instead of taking hours preparing it.
Things You'll Need
- 1 lb. raw shrimp
- Large egg
- 1 cup cornstarch
- Two 2-qt. bowls
- 1 cup peanut oil
- 1/4 cup sesame oil
- Medium skillet

Crack the egg into one of the mixing bowls. Beat it into a frothy yellow consistency.

Add the cornstarch to the other bowl.

Remove the shells and tails from the raw shrimp.

Roll the raw shrimp around a bit in the egg mixture.

Drop the raw, egg-coated shrimp into the cornstarch. The egg coating gives the cornstarch a way to adhere to the shrimp.

Add the peanut and sesame oil to the skillet and turn it on to a medium setting. Let it warm up for five minutes.

Drop the cornstarch-coated shrimp into the aromatic oils. Let them cook on each side for four minutes. This cooks the shrimp thoroughly while giving the coating a golden brown appearance.
