Many people are aware that Borax is most commonly used as a laundry detergent. According to mountainroseherbs.com, however, Borax is also an ingredient found in bath salts. Borax is an all natural mineral that can cleanse your skin. In addition, it also has the power to soften your bath water so that your skin is left moisturized.

Place 1/2 cup of table salt, 1 Tbsp. of baking soda, and 1 Tbsp. of Borax in a glass jar. Stir.

Add 15 drops of rose essential oil, and 10 drops of ylang-ylang essential oil to the dry salt mixture. Stir again.

Pour half of the mixture from the glass jar in to the bath water while it is still running. Save the other half for the next time you take a bath.

Soak in the tub for 20 to 30 minutes.

Tips

  • If you want your bath salts to fizz, add 1/2 tsp. of citric acid.

  • You can also use food coloring to dye the homemade bath salts if you prefer them to be a color other than white.
