How to Disable LM Authentication
LanMan (LM) Authentication is a form of encryption used by older Windows systems such as Windows 2000, NT, and XP to store passwords. The LM encryption scheme has been cracked, so administrators disable it to stop the transfer of LM passwords across the network, which is a security hole.
