1
Set a hair dryer on high and apply hot air to the double-sided tape. The hot air softens the tape allowing you to remove it.
-
2
Insert the edge of a plastic spatula under the tape. A spatula with a long handle and a thin blade works best.
-
-
3
Grasp the edge of the tape and peel slowly as you work the spatula beneath the tape. Apply even pressure to the spatula to follow the tape as it peels free of the wall or floor.
-
4
Rewarm the area with the hair dryer if the tape resists your efforts.
-
5
Scrape away excess glue adhesive with the spatula, reheating the area if necessary.
-
6
Clean the area with glass or all-purpose cleaner to remove any remaining residue. Wipe dry with a soft cloth.

Tips & Warnings
TechLib, a technical library for hobbyists, also recommends using lighter fluid to remove stubborn tape. Add a drop of fluid between the back of the tape and the surface of the wall and peel slowly. The lighter fluid follows the tape as it is peeled away, dissolving the adhesive as it works its way to the bottom.
