How do I Fix the Heat Ignitor on My Furnace? thumbnail
Hex head screws hold the ignitor in place.

Household furnaces use flame sensors and ignitors to produce heat. However, if the ignitor is faulty, the flame sensor will shut off and stop the supply of gas. The ignitor should first be checked, but if it is found to be faulty, it should be replaced. The ignitor itself will have a metal cover protecting the porcelain tube inside. Two wires will run from one end of the ignitor to a small wiring harness. Both checking and replacing the ignitor is a fairly simple process that takes little time or effort. Does this Spark an idea?
