Instructions

  1. Preparing an Omelet

    • 1

Crack two or three large eggs into a small mixing bowl. Make sure you don't crack the eggs directly into the frying pan or they will cook before you can mix up your omelet.

    • 2

Add about 1/4 tbsp. of heavy cream to the eggs. This will help the eggs fluff up as they cook. Beat the eggs lightly with a whisk for 15 seconds.

    • 3

Cook any meats that you need for the omelet filling. Chop any vegetables for the filling into small pieces. Set aside.

    • 4

Turn the stove on medium-low to medium heat. Place the pan on the burner and allow it to heat for two minutes. Do not pour the eggs into a cold pan.

    • 5

Coat the bottom of the frying pan with about 1 tsp. of butter.

    • 6

Pour the eggs into the frying pan. Tilt the pan so that the eggs completely cover the bottom. Push the edges of the eggs into the center of the pan as they cook. The outer edges will cook faster than the middle. Repeat this process every few seconds until all of the eggs begins to set and the liquid solidifies.

    • 7

Add the fillings to one side of the omelet once there is no liquid visible on the top of the eggs. Shake the pan to ensure the egg is not stuck to the bottom.

    • 8

Flip the top half of the omelet with your spatula over on top of the side holding the fillings. Turn off the heat to the burner. Lift the pan and tilt it over a plate so that the omelet slides off easily onto the plate. Use your spatula to help guide the omelet as you move it.
