How do I Configure an Arris 450 Modem?

The Touchstone CM450 Cable Modem is a device produced by Arris Technologies, and is designed to connect computers to the Internet via a coaxial cable connected to a Cable service. the CM450 also includes USB support if you prefer to connect your computer via USB rather than Ethernet. Of course, before you can do anything with the modem, you first have to install and configure it on your computer. Only the USB drivers need to be installed on your computer; the modem is ready for Ethernet connectivity right out of the box.

Things You'll Need

• Touchstone CM450 USB driver installation CD
• USB cable

Instructions

1. Connect one end of the USB cable to the CM450's USB port and the other to a free USB slot on your computer. Your PC should automatically locate the modem and begin the "driver installation wizard."

2. Select the "Install Device Automatically" radio button option, then click "Next."

3. Click the "Search for Best Driver" and "Search Removable Media" options, then insert the USB driver install CD into your computer's CD drive.

4. Click "Next" to begin the automated installation process. Windows should detect and install the USB drivers on the CD automatically.

5. Click "Finish" to complete the process. Your CM450 modem is now completely configured and ready for use.
