How to Calculate BMR for Women
BMR, or Basal Metabolic Rate, is the amount of energy your body must expend to maintain itself at a state of rest. This energy is expended to maintain function of vital organs, the nervous system, skin, intestines, lungs, liver and muscles. The BMR number is the amount of calories a person should consume to maintain your body. This number can be altered to lose or gain weight accordingly.

Calculating your BMR
-
1
Multiply your weight in pounds by 4.35. For example, if you weigh 150 pounds, it would be 4.35 x 150 = 652.5. Write down the resulting number.
-
2
Multiply your height in inches by 4.7. For example, if you are 62 inches tall, it would be 4.7 x 62 = 291.4. Write down the resulting number.
-
-
3
Multiply your age in years by 4.7. For example, if you are 30 years old, it would be 30 x 4.7 = 141. Write down the resulting number.
-
4
Add the first three numbers together to 655. Following the previous examples, it would be 652.5 + 291.4 + 141 + 655 = 1739.9.
-
5
Round the resulting number up to an even number. This is your BMR.
