How to Put a Motorcycle in the Back of a Pickup Truck
Trucks are manufactured for hauling anything you can put on the bed of them. Some smaller trucks have the ability to carry larger loads due to the frame's strength and a lower center of gravity. To load a motorcycle or even a riding lawn mower onto the bed will require the use of the tailgate so the full length of the truck bed is used. The use of loading ramps will be needed to load heavy items. Typical bed lengths are 4, 6 and 8 feet.

Lower the tailgate on the truck bed. Use the tape measure to measure the length of the motorcycle. Compare that length to the length of the truck bed to make certain the bike will fit.

Place a loading ramp on the edge of the tailgate in the center of the tailgate and the truck bed.

Roll the motorcycle up to the loading ramp. Have the assistant get in the truck bed to help pull the bike up the ramp. As you begin to push the bikes front wheel onto the ramp, position the front wheel to allow the rear wheel to follow in the same path.

Push the motorcycle up the ramp until the bike is completely in the bed of the truck. Lower the kick stand on the bike allowing it to remain on the truck.

Wrap a tie down strap around the fork of the bike and attach the strap to both sides of the truck

Ask the assistant to push down on the handlebars to compress the front shock fork and tighten the strap until it is firm. Remove the ramp from the tailgate and place the ramp beside the motorcycle on the truck bed so it's available for unloading.
