How to Save a Comcast DVR

You can save Comcast DVR programs by attaching the unit to a DVD player for DVD burning.

There are multiple ways to save DVR programs depending on the type of Comcast DVR unit in your home. Some have USB ports or FireWire ports. All units, however, have input and output cord receivers, and using these to burn DVR programs to DVD involves the same process regardless of the type of unit.

Things You'll Need

• AV cables
• DVD burner
• Blank DVD

Instructions

1. Connect the auxiliary output cords from the DVR to the input receivers of a DVD recorder. These cords are color-coded. Make sure that the cords plugged into the DVR are inserted into the output connections and that the corresponding cords are inserted into the input connectors on the DVD recorder.

2. Burn a DVD disc of the program by following the instructions for your specific DVD burner regarding burning movies.

3. Remove the DVD from the DVD player when the burn is complete and insert it into the disc drive on the computer to play. Ensure that the copy will play on the computer, then choose whether to copy the movie to the PC or just keep a DVD copy of the program.
