How to Add a Printer Tray
If you have a printer with several trays, taking proper care of those trays is one of the best ways to avoid downtime and paper jams. The rollers inside the trays wear smooth over time, and knowing how to remove and replace the trays will help you keep the printer running smoothly. Replacement printer trays are generally not very expensive, but the cost to have a professional printer repair technician install the tray can be quite high. Doing the work yourself lets you keep that money in your pocket.

Examine the tray and locate the bars that will align with the slots on the sides of the printer. Line those bars up with the slots inside the printer.

2
Push the tray as far as it will go, then gently lift up the tray from the bottom. Look inside the printer for a small tab. Depending on the printer, this tab might be on the left or right side.

Lift that tab gently and push the tray in at the same time. The tab should move out of the way and allow you to push the tray all the way into the printer.
