Rhapsody Is Unable to Install
Rhapsody is software that organizes and plays music files on a computer. You can download a free trial version as well as a paid version that has more features. If you're trying to download the Rhapsody player but keep running into an error message that says "unable to install," any of several factors may be contributing to the problem. This music player will not download on a computer that has outdated software. Another problem may be that the music player has settings that are incompatible with the operating system.

Download Updates

Turn off your computer firewall. Many firewall programs will block the installation of the Rhapsody player.

Download and install Windows Media Player 11 from the Microsoft website. Reboot your computer after you finish installing it.

Cancel the Rhapsody installation and stop any currently running programs. Disconnect your MP3 player from the computer.

Go to "Start," then "Windows Update." Download any updates recommended by your computer. Restart your computer when it finishes installing the updates.

Go to the Rhapsody homepage and download the latest version of the player. Click "Save" on the setup files. Double-click on the files to install it.

Shut down the Rhapsody installation page.

Right-click on the icon of the Rhapsody player and select "Properties."

Select the "Compatibility" tab and clear the boxes on the menu.

Click on "Apply," then "OK."
