How to Restore Chkdsk
If you computer abruptly shuts down or if it fails to load when the machine is powered on, Microsoft's Check Disk feature (commonly abbreviated as '"Chkdsk") will locate and repair any hard drive errors. However, sometimes the program will fail to run or will not check each hard drive. Follow the instructions below to restore Chkdsk and ensure that it automatically runs when there is a suspected hard drive error.

Click "Start," "Run" and "Cmd." Alternatively, click the "Windows" key and "R" simultaneously.

Type in "chkntfs \D" and press "Enter."

Wait for a black pop-up window to briefly appear. Once this window briefly appears, you have successfully restored Chkdsk.
