How to Make Straight Hair Wavy with a Weave
The hair-weaving process adds addition length, volume and texture using hair extensions, or as some call it, hair weave. You can take your natural, straight hair and transform it into lustrous waves simply by purchasing two to three packs of human hair that is wavy in texture. An efficient way to sew the wavy hair extensions into the hair is through a cornrow technique. This technique tends to keep longer, lasting anywhere between two to three months, and can prevent hair damage by using needle and thread instead of hair glue. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Wash your hair with a protein-based shampoo and condition. Rinse well with lukewarm water. Comb out your hair with a wide-toothed comb to free it from tangles. Dry your hair completely with a blow dryer.

2
Before you section the hair, create a straight horizontal part from the front part of the head from temple-to-temple with a rat-tail comb, leaving out enough hair, at least an inch or more, that will be used to cover your first track piece.

3
Part the hair into four even sections. Use hair clips or bobby pins to secure the hair in place. Create a cornrow stitch starting from the top right section; pinch about an inch of hair and separate it into three, smaller strands. Next, hold the two outer strands aside and crisscross the left strand over the middle and then the right strand over the middle, continually grabbing hair and stitching more hair as you descend all the way down the section.
-
4
Repeat the stitching process for each section until your whole head is covered in vertical cornrows. Be sure to make straight stitches with equal amount of hair in each row, so that the cornrows are similar in size. Leave 1/4 inch of space between each row as you descend down the head--this will ensure that you are covering the next layer of cornrows with an adequate amount of hair weave enough to cover up the cornrows as well as any visible tracks.
-
5
Loop a hair needle with thread. Lay the weave track across the cornrow stitches; start on the top row nearest the temple and above the forehead. Insert a threaded hair weaving needle into the end part of the track and begin to sew the weave into the cornrows in an "in and out" alternating pattern.
-
6
Re-thread the needle before sewing the next row. Lay another track across the next row of cornrows and continue to sew until you have covered the back of the head. Avoid weaving the last set of cornrows or about a quarter of an inch of the hair's edge free.

7
Cover the first track with the natural hair you parted out in step two. Use a heated crimper if you must, to match the natural hair in texture, to the wavy weave. Cut away any hanging threads, so they will not be exposed. Use your fingers or a large-toothed comb to comb through the waves--avoid using a hair brush as its bristles can permanently straighten waves.
