Instead of purchasing commercial items to lighten your medium brown hair, you can use items at home to save money. Lightening your brown hair at home may not give you immediate results, but your hair will transform to a lighter color over time. Commercial hair products can damage the hair and can give you unfavorable results. When you use environmentally friendly products regularly, you will achieve a lighter hair color without damaging your hair and the environment.
Things You'll Need
- 3 percent hydrogen peroxide
- Spray bottle
- ½ cup chamomile flowers
Combine two parts hydrogen peroxide with one part water in a spray bottle. Dampen your hair with warm water.
Spray the hydrogen peroxide mixture over your medium brown hair to cover it completely. Comb the hair to distribute the mixture from the roots to the ends.
Allow the hydrogen peroxide to sit in your hair for 30 minutes. Wash out the hydrogen peroxide with shampoo and follow up with conditioner to prevent the hair from drying out.
Spray your hair every two to three days with the peroxide mixture. You can speed up the process by exposing your hair to the sun for half an hour to an hour a day.
Add ½ cup of chamomile flowers to a saucepan. Pour in six cups of boiling water and place the saucepan on the stove top.
Allow the chamomile flowers to boil for 30 minutes. Place a bowl under a colander and strain the mixture. Let it cool until it reaches room temperature.
Place the bowl in a sink and place your hair over the sink. Use a cup to pour the mixture over your hair and let it drip back into the bowl.
Saturate your hair with the chamomile solution. Allow it to soak for 30 minutes and then rinse your hair with shampoo and conditioner.
