- Spray paint or craft paint
- Natural sponge
- Selection of ribbon

Make a Flower Girl Basket

Select a basket in an appropriate size for the girl who will carry it. Spray paint it white or another one of the bride's chosen colors. Use the craft paint and sponge to add another layer of color to blend or match the bride's colors. Decorative motifs may be painted or transferred onto the basket if desired.

Select real or silk flowers to make two small corsages to decorate either side of the basket handle. Decorate these corsages with ribbon bows in colors to match the bride's colors or the child's dress. Ribbons may be a mixture of satin and sheer fabrics. Allow streamers to hang from the flowers but make sure they are not so long that they interfere with the child's walking.

Fill the baskets with flower petals. Fresh rose petals are very fragile and will turn brown quickly. Petals from sturdier flowers or petals from silk roses are a suitable alternative and far less expensive than real roses. Give the little girls enough petals to distribute generously.
