Some occupations provide a person a salary for the entire year. No matter how much or how little the person works, he will receive his salary. The amount of hours worked does not affect the amount he will receive. Breaking a salary down into weekly allotments allows a person to plan their weekly budgets.

Determine your salary for the year. In this example, a person makes $40,000 a year.

Determine the number of weeks you worked during the year or use 52 weeks. In our example, the person worked 50 weeks of the year.

Divide the salary by the number of weeks. In our example, $40,000 divided by 50 weeks equals a weekly salary of $800. This is the salary for weeks actually worked. Alternatively, $40,000 divided by 52 weeks equals $769.24. This is the weekly salary for all weeks.
