Instructions

    • 1

Combine 2 cups of flour and ¼ tsp. of salt in a bowl. Whisk the ingredients together well.

    • 2

Mix two softened sticks of butter with a whisk in a separate bowl until the butter appears creamy. Add ½ cup of powdered sugar slowly and stir until the sugar dissolves into the butter.

    • 3

Add 1 tsp. of vanilla extract to the mixture. Pour in the flour and salt, and whisk for one minute to form dough. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator for an hour.

    • 4

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Cover two cookie sheets with wax paper.

    • 5

Sprinkle flour over a clean, flat surface. Place the dough on the flour and knead it. Roll the dough with a rolling pin to ¼ inch.

    • 6

Cut the dough with your preferred cookie cutter. Use hearts to signify love or cut out simple circles that you can customize later. Place the cut-out cookies onto the baking sheets.

    • 7

Place the baking sheets in the refrigerator for 15 minutes so the cookies maintain their shapes. Bake the cookies for 10 minutes. Remove them from the oven, and allow them to cool.

    • 8

Decorate the cookies with icing and a piping bag. Use your wedding colors to decorate the cookies. You can write your wedding date on the cookies, personalize them with your initials or even write a message for your guests such as “Thank You” so that you can give them out as favors.

    • 9

Allow the icing to dry on the cookies for 30 minutes. Package the cookies in clear cellophane bags. Tie ribbons around the bags, and tie each ribbon into a bow.
